What is a Dental Assisting School?
Have you been thinking about becoming a dental assistant? Maybe there is something about visiting the dentist that actually makes you feel happy rather than nervous. Maybe you’ve always had good experiences with dentists, or perhaps you just love the medical field and want to help people. Whatever your reasoning might be, if you are considering becoming a dental assistant it’s important to understand the type of schooling you’ll require.
Here at Miami Valley School of Dental Assisting, we believe in providing our students with comprehensive education and training to make sure they are ready for their first dental assisting job. This is why we offer a combination of lectures and clinical experience to provide our students with a well-rounded and valuable educational program. After all, how will you know what a typical day as a dental assistant truly looks like without first going through hands-on experiences within a simulated setting?
Students at Miami Valley School of Dental Assisting will have the option to attend courses once a week on Saturdays for only 10 weeks. You will go through a variety of classes and training to get you ready to become a dental assistant. You will receive lecture-based courses for the first half of each class session and then exercise the skills that you have been taught within a laboratory and clinical setting for the second half of each class session. During clinical training, we will show you how to use dental equipment as well as how to sterilize the equipment to prevent contamination and the spread of infection.
Being a dental assistant requires you to wear many hats. Some days you may be helping the dentists or hygienists with a procedure while other days you may be processing bills and payments. You’ll need to feel comfortable working with people on a day-to-day basis and also with performing a variety of different clerical tasks.
Besides providing you with comprehensive dental education and classes, our accelerated training program here in Dayton, OH, will also offer a radiography class, a CPR course designed specifically for healthcare professionals and also a 3-day internship to give you the tools you need to be a success as a dental assistant. There are only 10 students to a class to ensure that every student’s professional needs are met.
